Inside Elections: Tenney, Brindisi race a ‘Toss Up’

The election race for New York’s 22nd Congressional District seat has been changed from a “Tilt-Republican” rating to “Toss Up” by the Inside Elections political forecasting service, announced the campaign for Democratic challenger Anthony Brindisi of Utica.

Brindisi is challenging U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-22, New Hartford, for the seat.

Inside Elections previously had rated just 11 Republican-held seats in the country as a “Toss Up,” and the rating change for the 22nd district is a sign that Tenney “is one of the most vulnerable incumbent Republicans in the country,” said the Brindisi campaign.

“While this is a good sign that we’re on the right track, other people’s predictions about the race won’t change what kind of campaign we’re running,” said Brindisi, currently a state Assemblyman. “I’m going to continue to focus on local issues, empower working people by not taking corporate PAC (Political Action Committee) money, and be an independent voice for upstate New York.”
